Valerian Flower Essence |
It is interesting how spirit speaks to us when we are actually listening. Lately I have been getting guidance from the plant world. During a morning meditation the Valerian plant came through with a strong message. After reading about the plants spiritual lesson, I immediately wanted to make the flower essence. I called my good friend at The Purple Garden and asked if she had any Valerian in bloom. “Oh yes, it is in full bloom, towering over all the other plants in the garden,” she replied. I went and sat in meditation with the plant and honoring its beauty and medicine. There were two plants in the garden, one with the common white flowers and one with a lovely pink hue that felt gentle and compassionate to the heart. After connecting with the plant I made a flower essence from the beautiful white and pink blossoms. The following information about the spiritual properties of Valerian is taken from the book, The Spirit of Herbs, by Michael Tierra and Candid Cantin. The messages that I received from the plant were basically the same. Valerian will help to relieve self-judgment and mental “spasm” in which one may indulge during trying times. When one is taking the herb or herbal essence it is helpful to say an affirmation that will reinforce the sense of one’s basic goodness and worth. It may be used for self-purification when one is feeling the “guilties.” It will help one to “feel warmer” toward the self. An excellent affirmation to use when taking the Valerian flower essence is, “I fully acknowledge my goodness and worth, for I am a child of Divine Spirit.” However, it is most important to come up with an affirmation that truly resonates with you. So, if you need to warm up to yourself and move away from self-judgment, shame and regret and into self-acceptance and acknowledge your basic goodness Valerian flower essence may be for you.
