Create Your Own Natural Cleaning Products |
Instead of purchasing standard household cleaners, you can create your own natural, safe version by filling a plastic spray bottle with water and a squirt of dish soap, and a few drops of essential oils. Add 3-5 drops each of lavender, lemon, and pine essential oils. Shake the spray bottle well, and your homemade cleaner is ready. This simple solution is extremely economical, yet cleans and disinfects as well as any commercial cleaner. Please keep in mind that some of the oils used directly may stain some surfaces, such as linoleum. Additional antibacterial and antviral oils that are excellent for cleaning include cinnamon, clove, eucalyptus globulus, thyme, juniper, melaluca alternifolia, spruce, lemongrass, and grapefruit. My favorite ready made blend is Purification which contains citronella, lemongrass, lavandin, rosemary, melaleuca, and myrtle. This blend is an antiseptic formula for diffusing and purifying the home. It cleanses the air and neutralizes mildew, cigarette smoke, and disagreeable odors. Purification can also be used to cleanse cuts and scrapes. It is important to use pure steam distilled essential oils. I recommend Young Living Essential Oils. I have tried many brands and this is the highest quality that I have found. My clients agree, there is something different about these oils...the vibration, and freshness stand out above the other oils that I have tried.
